InformationWeek Powerline Networking Langa Letter: Powerline Networking Comes Of Age January 13, 2003
First and foremost, like wireless networking (a form of radio), a powerline network requires no new cables or special wiring: Any building that has normal electrical service already is wired for powerline networking, with no need to snake cables through walls or under floors, and with no need for drilling or other structural work.
Second, and again like wireless networking, powerline networking spreads the signal around: Once the network signal is injected at any point into a wiring system, the network can be accessed from almost anywhere on the same electrical system.
In this way, an electrical system can simultaneously deliver power and data over the same wires: Powerline networking devices can see and decode the networking signals, but standard electrical devices -- lights, motors, etc. -- don't even know the network data signals are there, and continue to operate normally.

ESRI News -- ArcNews Summer 2003 Issue -- Norwegian Electrical Consortium Brings GIS Online
Since electrical network development and subsequent database revisions are an ongoing process, the versioning feature of M&M's Designer is an important part of the GIS.
An engineer can start on the main regional distribution line of the electrical network in the GIS and drill down through the successive layers of the schematic drawings of the network to the customer level.
Because of the changing structure of the electrical market in Norway due to consolidation and acquisition, one of the greatest strengths that GIS has brought to the GeoNIS group is the ability to integrate a variety of data into one consistent database with minimum redundancy in the data.

 Tutorials - 2 Port Networks
A linear electrical network consisting of and input port and output port is referred to as a 2-port network (or sometimes 4 terminal network).
If a network is loaded by an image impedance and at the same time is exited by a generator with an image impedance, then the network is said to be working between its image impedances.
For any 2 port network, it is always possible to find an impedance which when terminating the circuit will give an impedance at the other port equal to this impedance.

Operation and Maintenance for an All-Optical Transport Network
The new optical network only performs cross-connecting of multigigabit streams, whereas the electrical network is responsible for cross-connecting low to medium bit rate streams and generating the multigigabit streams.
This network enhancement provides a lot of benefits for network operators and users, such as efficient transport and routing of multigigabit streams, simple network adaptation to new or changing requirements, evolution from today s transport network, and reuse of existing infrastructure.
Taking into account the large traffic concentration within the optical network and therefore the severity of the fault increasing with the duration of the network unavailability, the latter disadvantage may not be too serious.

 Network routing
It follows directly that if a link is added to an electrical network and the same total current is carried then the energy dissipation is reduced: after all, the old flow pattern remains feasible for the new optimization problem.
It is possible to develop rather quickly the connections between random walks, electrical networks and variational principles.
This indicates the importance of treating a network as a whole: the apparent local benefits of a capacity or routing change may be completely negated by adverse consequences elsewhere in the network.

Electrical network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An electrical network or electrical circuit is an interconnection of electrical elements such as resistors, inductors, capacitors, diodes, switches and transistors.
The goal when designing electrical networks for signal processing is to apply a predefined operation on potential differences (measured in volts) or currents (measured in amperes).
It can be as small as an integrated circuit on a silicon chip, or as large as an electricity distribution or transmission network.
