Eleanor Rigby - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eleanor Rigby is a song by The Beatles, originally released on the album Revolver by EMI/Parlophone Records.
"Eleanor Rigby" was released simultaneously on August 5, 1966 on both the album Revolver and on a double A-side single with the song "Yellow Submarine" on Parlophone in the United Kingdom and Capitol in the United States.
The song was primarily written by Paul McCartney, though all Beatles contributed to the lyrics.

Eleanor Rigby Lyrics - The Beatles
'Eleanor Rigby' was always a great song by The Beatles.
It continues until the second syllable of "Eleanor." The bad mixing of the double tracking continues throughout the rest of the song, every time there is a transition from single to double or vice versa.
It was done with the orchestra, but the way we did it, we put it into an eerie graveyard setting and made it spooky, the way the lyrics read.

Eleanor Rigby is not a Beatles song you hear people talk about - perhaps because it lies way outside the holy trinity - built around Dear Prudence, I Am The Walrus and Hey Jude - that was enshrined during the Britpop period, maybe because St. John Lennon's contribution is barely audible.
And The Beatles' two characters, Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie, are emblematic of exactly the same period.
That said, the 18-month old bootleg/mash-up/Bastard Pop craze has seen all kinds of unauthorised remixes of the song: last month, I received a Jacknife Lee treatment in which the song is set to the most skeletal of hip hop backings, and Paul McCartney's voice interrupts the music in the manner of a ghost.

Devin McKinney, in his Beatles exegesis Magic Circles, writes that "Eleanor Rigby" has "the fine imagery, the minimalist exactness of polite literature, but it barely conceals itself as a psychotic piece of music."
