Iced Earth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band that combines influences from thrash metal, power metal, NWOBHM with gothic touches, and claims to be one of the few modern bands still producing 'true heavy metal' and refusing to accede to trends.
Iced Earth's music is often described as Iron Maiden combined with 80's thrash metal.
Many of the band's recent albums have been concept albums written around a theme, e.g.

 Iced Earth
Iced Earth had some long songs on the previous albums, but on this one they show their ability to create a full-fledged epic.
This is Iced Earth's heaviest album, but it still retains powerful symphonic sounds and heart-twisting acoustic passages.
Iced Earth breaks new ground in the metal world with their debut album.

 ICED EARTH
Iced Earth's current European tour is in support of their latest album ("Horror Show"), scheduled to begin in September 2001 but postponed until January 2002.
Iced Earth is one of my favorite bands, so this is probably one of my most anticipated shows of the year.
They came back to play 4 songs from their latest album "Horror Show".

Earth, Wind, & Fire is the debut album by the group Earth, Wind & Fire.
The music on this album is much rawer and tougher than most of what the group later became famous for.

The album was released as a single CD in USA (figures with Century Media).

 Iced Earth
Iced Earth guitarist and founder Jon Schaffer outs himself as a history buff on this album, which also marks a historic moment for the band.
The songs on the album - the typical crisp, fast, precise Iced Earth fare - cover key points in American history, from the signing of the Declaration of Independence ("Declaration Day") through the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks ("When the Eagle Cries," "The Reckoning").
But the heart and soul of this album is a song that almost didn't make the cut because of its length, an epic 32-minute piece based on the battle of Gettysburg.

Encyclopaedia Metallum - Reviews for Iced Earth - Iced Earth
Iced Earth could have been a much better album, worthy of a 90 or so, but as most people know, the vocalist on this album sucks.
When I first listened to Iced Earth’s self titled album, I was already used to the Barlow era Iced Earth, and I was eager to experience the album that started Iced Earth’s quest in the metal world.
The riffing on the album is better than on any of the later three Iced Earth albums, and most of it can definitely be compared to Night of the Stormrider and Burnt Offerings.

 iced earth
Heavy metal fans and Iced Earth fans alike are full of mixed feelings about both the new vocalist and the patriotic theme that the album is so saturated with.
Iced Earth is known for songs about the antichrist, Dante's Inferno, heaven vs. hell, rebel angels, etc. Since it's not the typical "tear down the heavens" type of album, not every Iced Earth fan will get it.
This is the fastest song on the album and I've heard people say this was the weakest track.

 Iced Earth
Iced Earth are a 90s epic power metal band reminiscent of bands like Iron Maiden or Justice -era Metallica without so much of the constant progressive side.
Overall this album is better than the following release, and a good display of the band's thrash abilities.
Despite the absence of truly weak tracks this album doesn't show what the band is capable of.

Earth Wind & Fire: The Goldmine Story
Earth Wind and Fire spent three years on Warner Bros., recording two studio albums and the soundtrack for Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, a box-office smash that paved the way for black-themed films throughout the 1970's.
Earth Wind and Fire performed the songs in the film, and Maurice had a small speaking part as leader of "The Group." "We actually recorded one of the songs, 'Happy Feelin',' at a roller skating rink during the movie," said Philip Bailey.
So we said, let's do it album by album, one disc at a time.

The vocals to "Last Night On Earth" were reportedly recorded at the mixing desk the day the album was to be sent for pressing.
Between the album's various singles and the band's The Best of 1990-2000 compilation (and disregarding dance remixes and the like), the band has re-recorded, remixed, and rearranged "Discothèque", "If God Will Send His Angels", "Staring at the Sun", "Last Night On Earth", "Gone", and "Please".

 Amazon.com: Music: Burnt Offerings
I think the best thing about this album is that it combines the amazing riffs of the first two albums with the powerfull, epic vocals of Barlow (which is an appreciated step forward from their first two vocalists).
This album is to IE what Painkiller was to Judas Priest: a heavier than normal release which was fueled by traumatic events.
Even if the album didn't fare well, it proved that IE was a force to be reckoned with in the world of heavy metal.

After enjoying that particular album I was very interested in listening to the rest of Iced Earth's discography.
Well, after listening to it and every other Iced Earth album dozens of times I'm pleased to say that Something Wicked is not only Iced Earth's best album, but it is also among the best albums of the late 90's.
After all, it's mostly the guitars that supply the melody in a heavy metal album.

Metal-Rules.com: Interview with Tim "Ripper" Owens of ICED EARTH
This is your first album with the band and is arguably the finest vocal performance of your career and it is also the best Iced Earth CD, in my opinion.
I know Matt Barlow had recorded all of the vocals for the album and then decided to leave the band, but there are still some of his backing vocals that were kept.
In fact, I wasn't even a member of Iced Earth and Jon already was asking me to do some writing so that was pretty cool.

The songs "Iced Earth" and "Colors" were still being played by the band live as of 1999.
