Earache Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Earache Records is a heavy metal-oriented record label based in Nottingham, UK and New York USA, which helped pioneer extreme music by releasing many of the earliest grindcore and death metal releases in the period 1988-1992.
Founded in the late eighties by Digby "Dig" Pearson, their first release, with the catalogue reference MOSH 1, was The Accused's album "Return Of Martha Splatterhead" on vinyl in 1987 but the first major release was Napalm Death's Scum album.
Earache have signed even more musically adventurous groups such as Ewigkeit in later years but still the Death Metal and Grindcore with which it made its name predominates.

 Earache Records
The early days of Earache were a very special moment in time: it was the dawn of a new sound, something that captured the ears of true heavy music fans around the world.
It's the most pop-oriented record we've ever done and we love it because it's full of great songs.
Janus Stark (featuring Gizz from Prodigy) is certainly an Earache curveball - but it's certainly not techno, it's punk rock in a Descendants kind of way.

Earache Records - Label Profile - Stylus Magazine
In 1986, Scum was the most abrasive and violent record ever recorded, and it was revered not just for its savagery, but for its originality as well.
The label& greatness has waned, with many of their flagship bands having disbanded years ago, but Earache still possesses a handful of stunning bands either at the height of their powers or on the verge of greatness.
Great bands would continue to be signed, but would often only produce one memorable album, unlike the original Earache kingpins, whose every album seemed to be hailed as a classic.

Drummer Tony "Stick" Dickens replaced Harris to record the band's first full-length effort, A Holocaust in Your Head; in the wake of their sophomore record, Phonophobia, ENT collaborated with the KLF on a cover of the latter's "3am Eternal" which earned "Single of the Week" honors in NME.

Godflesh :: Love and Hate in Dub :: Earache Records
If one were seeking a crude description of this record, it largely sounds like Godflesh sans the scintillating, cyclical, outrageously overdriven guitar riffage and for the most part, the primeval, atavistic screams of Mr Broadrick.
Enter Godflesh, a sublime fusion of the driving guitars, brutal, visceral cacophony of metal and the syncopated, pulsating rhythms/cybernetic bludgeon of industrial electronica.

 Earache Records Music Reviews
If Scorn is any sign of the musical directions Earache records might be taking in the future, I might not just assume everything on the label is a rehashed miasma of metal.
The music tends to get a little on the repetitive side especially with the cymbals, but overall the complete work is rather soothing and melodic fitting right at in my album collection right next to bands such as In Slaughter Natives and Shinjuku Thief.
Expecting a typical Earache metal band from hell I was totally shocked and secretly pleased when I was instead treated to a mixture of gothic undertones with middle eastern rhythms joined together to produce a sort of tribal ambient melange.
