 Drill n bass - Wikipedia
Drill n' Bass music can be characterized as "headphone music," less designed for dancing than for careful listening.
Pop music, especially hip hop and RandB also borrowed from drill's unique and powerful drum sensibility.
Artists like Luke Vibert, Squarepusher, and most famously, Aphex Twin helped originate the sound, which had emerged with some popular success by 1995 (see 1995 in music).

 Tiny Mix Tapes: Venetian Snares
This is an album of uncouth beauty that is at once sublime, timeless, cinematic, sporadic, and moving from start to finish for the uppity junglist or the CBC Radio 1 listener in your family.
Speedranch's Making Orange Things), variant experimentalist drum and bass (Chocolate Wheelchair, Doll Doll Doll), and even a few concept albums (Songs About My Cats, Winnipeg Is A Frozen Shithole EP).
Never content on doing the same thing twice, he has followed up the industrial chill of last year's Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding -- isn't he just the man with the snappy, radio-friendly titles -- with a classical concept of love and grief songs.

Squarepusher - Go Plastic - Stylus Magazine
Citing that he had taken drum 'n' bass as fast and as crazy as it could gone, Jenkinson released the album "Music is Rotted One Note," an avant-jazz record that took much more from Lamonte Young and Miles Davis than it took from either Goldie or Aphex Twin.
Both "Metteng Excuske V1-2" and "Tommib" offer up short melodic nuggets echoing a bit of Boards of Canada and the last track, "Plaistow Flex Out," is a trip hop influenced number which serves as a good come down track from the hyperspeed breakbeats on most of the tracks.
The album starts off with "My Red Hot Car." I was almost nervous when the next track rolled around in my CD player, but I was then more than surprised to hear a straight up drill 'n' bass workout that sounded much like his work on Big Loada.

Tom's bass has dominated the album for the most part, so it's here, on tracks 12 and 13, where his drumming dexterity begins to come out of the musical closet.
As a professional bass player, Tom Jenkinson really shines on this track, where his guitar is the only instrument.
His playing is rhythmic and has a very Steely Dan feel to it, showcasing his musical background once again.

Instead of plain vanilla bass and snare hits, we now have whistles, crashes, vocal fragments, synth noises, and any toys Jenkinson could coax sounds from in his studio.
The music as a consequence becomes more multi-dimensional and energizing.

 Artistopia Music - Aphex Twin
Early releases featured a more hardcore and acid technoacid based sound (''Ventolin'' is often called one of the harshest or most abrasive songs ever recorded due to the screeching trebles and breaking beats.), and later progressing into his critically acclaimed ambient works, while his hardcore side remained active through his pseudonym of Caustic Window.
Recent experimentation on his album ''drukqs'' included use of a prepared piano (specifically a Yamaha Disklavier) in the style of composer John Cage.

Emotional Joystick - Bellicose Pacific - Stylus Magazine
The intentional devolution of the tracks’ drums and its rectification is one of the few moments of transcendence that the album has to offer.
The exceptions—or, the tracks that rise above the familiar conceits of the drill ‘n bass/gabber mix of the proceedings—are brief, but easily heard as greater than the fluff that surrounds them.
Unfortunately, two tracks, one not even listed in the liner notes, does not an album make.

 Articles - Breakbeat
These rhythms may be characterised by their use of syncopation and polyrhythms, which are prominent in all music of African origin, including much Afro-American music.
For the technique, and the meaning of the term with hip-hop and funk music see break (music).
Breakbeat (or funky breakbeat) may also refer to the music of bands such as Breakestra, who play funk and soul music with an emphasis on the elements that would become popular in hip-hop and later breaks-based music.

Unlike many techno and drum n bass album, these tracks are relatively short, the longest peaking at less than five minutes long.
Listening to this ep is not like listening to most cd's that come out these days.
Aphex Twin's most commercially successful release in the US, the "Come to Daddy" ep's primary draw is the title track which unlike most tracks by the UK eccentric Richard James was written intentionally to be pop-accessible.

 DATA:BASS > NETWORK
With Drum'n Bass, the consistently high standards expected of producers and performers can be stifling creatively, while Mental Illness puts out unique music from our producers that celebrates a whole different set of musical values.
Then, Mental Illness became a subsidiary project of 0474:8455 Recordings, dedicated primarily to turntable/ electronic /sequenced music outside of Drum'n Bass, as a repose and an outlet for DBN to provide an opportunity for affiliated producers to showcase the best of their experiments in other genres.
We just want to pump out CD's that are full of interesting, listenable tunes that people would be keen to buy for say, $10 or something, and maybe even start a trend for wholesale local produce bargains.

Squarepusher: Ultravisitor - Release Music Magazine review
This is even before we get to the trademark broken shuffle beats and bass we know and love so well - it is simply next level music.
You have no choice but to admire this album, it is simply Squarepushers most coherent and brilliant album yet - we are just lucky we were born at the right time to appreciate it!
Check out "50 Cycles" for sheer eye-popping creativity - with its ambience-to-gabba-babble-vocal-to-white-noise-washes - all within the space of the first three minutes of an eight minute plus track!

 Amazon.com: Music: Drum 'N' Bass for Papa/Plug EP's 1, 2 & 3
It's funny how much consensus their typically is in the drum n' bass community regarding what are/are not classic albums.
I thought it was some extremely underground album (ok, so maybe I was right), but it is core genre, and extremely listenable to boot.
So when I found a copy of this album used, I gave it a try.

Outer Sound: In Review: July 2001 -- Mouse on Mars
The opening track and single, "Actionist Respoke," thrusts forward with an over-compressed vocal sample on top of broken drill n' bass beats, burps, bleeps, and analog synth stabs.
Distorted guitars fill out the background building into a frenzy which breaks down to a fine electro beat.
"Subsequence" kicks a fresh beat with sampled snaps and honks before moving us into schmaltzy piano melody which morphs into clarinet and strings over round electro bass lines.

Like the title of the album suggests, though, Plug is Vibert's drum and bass outlet.
Besides touring, he already released an album called Big Soup this year on Mo Wax, as well as several songs on compilations.
Luke Vibert (aka Plug and Wagon Christ) is the first of tons (a couple others are Squarepusher and Autechre) of electronic artists to be picked up by Trent Reznors Nothing label and set for release domestically.

This room promised 'hard electronic music for the dancefloor', which apparently means industrial, noise, power electronics, drill n’ bass, acid techno - basically anything at all, because even these punchy labels cannot begin to define the music in the mutate room.

There is the mutate room upstairs, with its Cyborg Beats.

Yes, I just recently learned "braindance" is a nickname for IDM genre (even though IDM head's in the electronic community would argue over what it encompasses) still some cool drill n' bass and experimental stuff and I was impressed with stream quality wise too ;-D. Happy listening!

Asteroid Schoolhouse - "Mind-Drill" / "Two Big, Fat, Bass-Playin' Dudes"
"Yodel" opens the set with a static high pitched whining space tone, percussive clatter, a droning bass, and guitar that seems to cross both Frith and Fripp, with a right turn into space.
But from "There's Plaid In My Soup!" we launch into beautiful chaos with a mosh of Snakefinger-like guitar and an array of high volume sound.
Fans of the avant-guitar experimentations of folks like Fred Frith, Henry Kaiser, and Derek Bailey will enjoy Asteroid Schoolhouse's noisier, and often spaceier, take on the genre.

This would, in theory, have led to a new and interesting pop direction to Jenkinson’s music.
Drill ‘n bass was such a popular sub-genre, in fact, that it made both the pages of Spin and Rolling Stone, at one point.
tarting with a gloriously destructive take on the drum ‘n bass genre in his debut work, Feed Me Weird Things, Tom Jenkinson has erected an entire sub-genre on his shoulders.

 Tripel Records
Perhaps but all do not know that, to leave from 2002 and mainly from the album "Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt" on Thrill Jockey, ours it holds parallel in feet a record activity of different sign that hour continues with a new album for nearly the esordiente Tripel Records.
More than a simple follow up to its predecessor, Demons sees Andrew Coleman venturing deeper into his own sonic environment, unveiling new grounds on which to see his work evolve, experimenting with textures and tones and ultimately crushing rule after rule to let his work flourish fully.
More famous like Animals on Wheels and founder with Adam Butler (Vert) of the Bovynil, Andrew Coleman has been between the most convinced promotori of the scene drill' n' bass in earth of Albione.

Re: Adding 3rd strap button to RIC bass--help! (GuitarSite.com)
I'm not familiar with Bass's but it sounds like you want to place the strap in the same location that many acoustics have them; which would be half way down the heel of the neck where it meets the body, this will effective "pull" the guitar more inwards to your body.
Many arch-top electric guitars have their strap button here and I'm used to them in that position.
It's a very simple process, the only real problem is if that portion of the neck heel is curved like all acoustic are, then you just need to be a little more careful drilling the hole and you would have to get a curved strap button.

Along with cohorts like Lesser and Cex (amongst others), he's throwing a monkey wrench into the electronic music scene with music and statements that not only tries to tear holes in genres, but pokes a whole lot of fun at the scene in general.

Third Eye Foundation - Sound Of Violence EP - Review
If you haven't heard anything by the group before, a possibly explanation is to take creepy, disembodied voices, heavily filtered claustrophobic sounds, and tweaked-out drill and bass beats.
Now, put them all in a blender with another blop of swirling noise and you might have something close to what this sounds like.
Matt Elliot, former Flying Saucer Attack member, and the man behind the mess, ripped out things in a flourish with this almost 25 minute effort while introducing a wicked new sound.

 Wafta - College Street Zoo
While the sound quality and production isn't totally kicking (not bad though), I like the grungy quality to it.
The main thing for me in this 12" is the music, which stands apart from most every other D&B, jungle, 'jazz and bass' and 'drill and bass' or whatever, really unique.
the rest of the tracks go between full on drum and bass 1996 style to dark ambient to almost industrial.
