 Donovan
In late 1965, Donovan hooked up with manager Allen Klein and a new producer, Mickie Most (who also worked with the Animals, Herman's Hermits, and Lulu), who steered the young singer away from acoustic folk and into psychedelic pop.
Donovan and Most parted company in 1969, and though the singer was able to sustain his albums success into the early Seventies, the hit singles had dried up.
January, 2004 saw the release of another album called "1964", which features recordings of Donovan from that year, made before his string of hit records.

Donovan’s goal on “Beat Café” was to “view ‘modern life’ as seen from ‘Bohemia’,” to capture the musical and intellectual freedom of a hip, underground hangout.
Eleven new Donovan compositions (plus a version of the traditional “Cuckoo”) were recorded by multiple Grammy-winning producer John Chelew (Blind Boys of Alabama, Richard Thompson, John Hiatt) “in the spirit of the Bohemian café happenings” that date back to the mid-19th Century, as Donovan writes in his liner notes.

Paced by the title track, one of Donovan's best singles, 1966's Sunshine Superman heralded the coming psychedelic age with a new world/old world bent: several ambitious psychedelic productions and a raft of wistful folk songs.
The two side-openers, "Sunshine Superman" and "Season of the Witch," are easily the highlights of the album; the first is the quintessential bright summer sing-along, the second a chugging eve-of-destruction tale.
Producer Mickie Most fashioned a new sound for the Scottish folksinger, a sparse, swinging, bass-heavy style perfectly complementing Donovan's enigmatic lyrics and delightfully skewed, beatnik delivery.
