 Stones Fans Dirty Work Reviews
The thing about this album is that it is a REAL Stones album.
Many of the other tracks on this album are mediocre---even poor. There is a raw truth to this album that seems to shout out at the listener: "you are listening to the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world fighting" and there are few hummable tunes or 'visions of rainbows' here.
A time of turmoil for the band is the reason of this album's failure.

 Dirty Work -- (1986)
When it came time to record the album, Mick basically came into the studio, grunted out the lyrics and left.
The songs are for the most part uninteresting and flat, with only two songs saving this otherwise poor album, the first track, the solid rokcer "One Hit (To The Body)" and the last track, a tender Keith ballad, "Sleep Tonight." The bulk of the tracks sound like Stones-lite, often heavy with synths and grunted vocals.
Keith and Ronnie were holed up in a studio coming up with most of the music for "Dirty Work" while Mick was out busy being a solo musician.

Nevertheless, the album gave the band their first UK number 1 since 1973 and the title track was a Top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
The album was severely criticized at the time of its release for its uneven quality but was subsequently re-evaluated favourably, particularly in contrast to their later work.
The entire album was permeated by images of sex and death, yet the tone of the work was neither self-indulgent nor maudlin.

Robert Christgau: Winning Ugly: The Rolling Stones' "Dirty Work"
There's the public disaffection of the band's fearless leader, who wouldn't start work on the album because he was promoting his last solo effort and won't tour behind it because he's starting work on the next one.
Dirty Work (Rolling Stones) is a bracing and even challenging record.
Based on riffs worked up by Ron and Keith before Jagger sullied his consciousness with them, the arrangements are the simplest on any Stones album since Some Girls if not Aftermath.

'Dirty Work' by The Rolling Stones from The Portsmouth Chorus.
All we had was this album which sounded fresh in the summer of 1986 when it came out but on a songwriting level left a lot to be desired.
The days of great Stones albums had with hindsight been left behind in 1980's Emotional Rescue which I maintain is the last album truly worthy of this band's name.

Dirty Work by Rolling Stones CD
This album includes some great rocking songs like the title track, "Fight", "Hold Back", "Had It With You" This is an album by a rock and roll band.
A notable distinction of DIRTY WORK is Ron Wood's collaboration with the Jagger/Richards songwriting axis on four songs, "One Hit (To The Body)", "Fight," "Had It With You" and the title track, which may have been code for the Glimmer Twins' then-strained relationship.
It ranks as their worst album, and is only made tolerable by "One hit(to the body)," part of "Dirty work," and "Sleep tonight." The release finds the millionares, in particular Mickie, dabbling in horrendous synth-type pop, very bland "rock," and just bad attempts at commercial pop.

 ALTRAP.NET - Album Review - Tzarizm - Dirty Work
Florida cat Tzarizm is first up to bat for the UJ Empire crew on a largely self-produced album that promises to build on the initial buzz created last year from his tracks featured on the UJ Empire promotional sampler.
The awkward 'Veteranz Day', its bland follow up 'Authentik' and the double-time 'Dirty Mouthz' (which just seems to have been tossed on cos most albums last year had a joint like this) are all candidates to hit the studio floor in a fat-trimming exercise.
There are several tracks like this, throughout the album where every component comes together to make some perfect Hiphop - the beats are on point, the rhymes flow smoothly over them, and the whole vibe is butter.

The Rolling Stones - Dirty Work
Reuniting after three years and one solo album from Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones attempted to settle their differences and craft a comeback with Dirty Work, but the tensions remained too great for the group.
Designed as a return to their rock and roll roots after several years of vague dance experiments, Dirty Work is hampered by uneven songs and undistinguished performances, as well as a slick, lightly synthesized production that instantly dates the album to the mid-'80s.
Jagger often sounds like he's saving his best work for his solo records, but a handful of songs have a spry, vigorous attack — "One Hit (To the Body)" is a classic, and "Winning Ugly" and "Had It With You" have a similar aggression.
