 D.O.A. (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
D.O.A. has often released music on Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records, and they have released an album with Jello Biafra titled 'Last Scream Of The Missing Neighbors'.
The band's first two albums, Something Better Change and Hardcore 81 are two of the top five Canadian punk rock albums of all time.
Their career began in 1978, and their music was often described as hardcore punk and they are often referred to as the "founders" of Hardcore by their following.

D.O.A.’s sound and philosophy has been held together by Canada’s Godfather of punk Joey "Shithead" Keithley’s songwriting, singing and guitar playing.
The band has never been more active, having recently released their second DVD, D.O.A.’s "Greatest Shits" and a split album with metal legend Thor entitled "Are U Ready".

Actually I'm supposed to be singing with the symphony, doing a thing called the Memphis Cantata in which the group, the band, the symphony would do esoteric versions of Elvis Presley songs that at point sound nothing like Elvis Presley songs.
She did the middle Elvis while D.O.A. were touring Europe.
JOEY: The first 25% is based on D.O.A. It's not a bad book, or a movie, but it dwelled too much on the nihilistic side, never dealing with the impact of punk rock from the west coast.

On the first disc the listener is greeted with some catchy hard rock that fans have learned to expect from the band but on the second disc you are greeted by a slew of slower paced acoustic songs that many might not have been accustomed to hearing from the band in the past.
The Foo Fighters are a band that has been able to steadily release good, not great, rock albums and at the same time tweak their sound and mature with each release.
With this album you are able to see two sides of the band.

The problem seems to be that the band hasn't really figured out where to take that new sound yet, shown on this album through touches of redundancy from track to track.
But when it came time to create The Bell Ringer, which is the band's third full-length album, bassist Steve F. Farmer came along and made the band a trio.
There are hints of every style from punk to metal to new wave to goth to pop, but it all blends together nicely, and it isn't quite as all over the place as it may sound.

Everyone that came back said, "This band from Canada is incredible." This was 1979, when nobody was touring, and they showed up and played in a hovel, basically.
It was a very interesting experience and I realized how completely unnatural it is for a band to be on a television show - particularly a punk band - that kind of has a momentum to suddenly be expected to immediately jump into a song in that type of setting.

When I listen to this British band's debut album, Permission to Land, it feels like I stepped into a time machine and went back anywhere between 15 and 25 years.

There's the story about the DOA show he came to, his dad was a music professor in University of Alberta and giving some kind of lecture, and Ford was 11 or 12 and didn't feel like listening to it.
Well, on the other hand, whether you like DOA or not it doesn't matter that much to me, but I can honestly say it would be a lot more fun at that point in your life listening to DOA or bands like it, than the sort of schlock that was coming out on the radio.
The lead bands at the time were David Bowie, whom I like, but he was doing some pretty mild stuff, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, I think they were around, and locally, one of the bands that inspired me to play punk rock, Prism.

Initially we had a rather clumsy record deal, but (as could be expected) it fell through – probably for the best, because we are now independent of any label or manager.

None of the songs sound forced, and it shows a whole other angle to the band.
We've certainly seen that Grohl and band can make some memorable slower music, as fans of the TV show "Ed" could attest.
A whole CD of softer material is an interesting move - and apparently a controversial one too.
