 A Case for Created Time
Prior differences in the spin-orbital rates can be recognized from the record of coral and bivalve fossils--as cited--where daily growth leaves a record (like tree growth rings).
However, based upon the record of prior eclipses, it can be predicted that perfect synchronization may have once existed in the not too distant past.
This indication of an origin--in correspondence with a time of perfectly aligned spin-orbital cycles--seems to be at variance with the Earth's geological record (which indicates that the Earth has existed for many millions of years).

BBC News SCI/TECH Coral record reveals secrets of El Nino
The coral record has revealed large changes in the weather phenomenon El Nino, which brings hurricanes and severe droughts to parts of the world.
According to the coral data, in the late 19th Century, before carbon-based gases first started being released into the air on a massive scale by the burning of fossil fuels, El Nino returned about every 10-15 years.
This suggests that natural factors, as well as man's influence, can drive climate change.

Coral reef bleaching has been reported since the late 1800s on reefs worldwide, although this phenomenon appears to be increasing in frequency over the past few decades.
Malcolm McCulloch at the Australian National University in Canberra, began a project documenting longer-term frequency of coral bleaching, to determine whether coral bleaching is a recent phenomenon or part of the longer–term natural cycle.
