Chuck Mosley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chuck Mosley was the original singer in the rock band Faith No More.
The sleeve notes to FNM's "Introduce Yourself" album contain the line: "Thanks to haircuts That Kill for letting us borrow Chuck," implying that he was never intended to be a permanent member.
He also had a brief stint with the band Bad Brains.

His life now is a far cry from what it used to be like when he was a teenager and more concerned with trying to find a sofa to crash on, a punk band to front, and some coke to snort.
After working as a roadie for the L.A. glam punk band Celebrity Skin in the late '80s, Mosley fronted Bad Brains for a year and started another band called Cement.
With his short dreadlocks shaved into a mohawk, both ears double-pierced, and his long-sleeved shirt barely covering the tattoos on his arms, Mosley still looks the part of a punk rocker.

 CMT.com : Cement : Biography
Released in 1993, the band's self-titled debut is a quasi-metal free-for-all that signaled the group's musical abandon and fascination with the power and sensibility of rock music in its rawest form.
While not quite as musically accomplished as their influences, Cement (Mosley, guitarist Sean Maytum, bassist Senon Williams, and drummer Doug Duffy) still made a distinct noise that wasn't without its moments.
Finding one of these discs at your local mega-electronics outlet will be difficult and hardly worth the work for many listeners.

It's their first album and it has more of a raw garage band sound than any of their other albums (including Introduce Yourself which had the same singer, Chuck Mosley).
I certainly didn't like the album very much when I first bought it, but every time I listened to it, it appealed to me just a little more until eventually it was (and is) one of my favorites.
It's difficult to say which is my favorite Faith No More album of all time, but WCAL is definitely in the running.

Even though Mosley's vocals can be a bit annoying, and the song writing wasn't that great then, the band truely shows off their talent by sometimes single-handedly saving songs that were going nowhere with Mosley on them.
The one thing that Mosley had going for him was that he could come up with some catchy choruses for tracks like "Anne's Song" and the sarcastic humor in "We Care A Lot" is hard not to love.
"As The Worm Turns" was originally a FNM song sung by Chuck Mosley, but in this live version, Patton really takes the song and makes it his own.

Review of Faith No More's We Care a Lot
Vocals are shouted, not sung, and this is a good reflection of the tone of the album.
This is unsurprising because back in the dark ages of cassette tapes - and indeed often still - the good songs were stacked at the front, while the poorer efforts tried to escape unnoticed at the back.
The first half starts with the title track "We Care a Lot." Apart from being a good song it reveals another point about the band - lead singer Chuck Mosley yells a lot.

InternetEd Reviews: Faith No More- This Is It: The Best Of…
Mike Patton& vocal talent stands in contrast to Mosley’s rawer sound, as is evident on the polished “Ashes To Ashes,” while “Be Aggressive” is an amusing song with cheerleading choruses and a discordant feel that is representative of the Angel Dust album.
The track titled “Anne's Song” is a good choice from Faith No More’s earlier music (with Chuck Mosley on vocals) and it may surprise newer fans by how different the vocals sound.
Both of Faith No More’s singers appear on the compilation, but Mike Patton dominates the majority of the disc as far as vocals go—which is no surprise seeing as how the original vocalist, Chuck Mosley, was only with the group for one major label album.

Just when you think the disc might end well, "Arabian Disco" can't figure out a mood, and "New Beginnings" is a lame power ballad turned lame rocker, thus driving home proof that "As the Worm Turns" is a highly enjoyable fluke.
"The Jungle" sports one of the best guitar licks on the album, but Mosley's "sinister" vocals elicit laughs rather than chills.
Tongue-in-cheek lyrics about really caring about a whole bunch of different causes elevate this one above the average dreck on this album, and it's tolerable as long as Mosley's yelling rather than singing.

 TrouserPress.com :: Faith No More
Having located a solid stylistic core, Faith No More's careful digressions into rappish rhythm riot (and other areas) became part of a clear-cut sound, supported by much improved songwriting (like "Introduce Yourself," which namechecks a good chunk of the record industry, and "R'n'R," which is blurted in a hard-rock analogue to Grandmaster Flash's "The Message").
Apparently unconcerned by the danger of seeming like a one-song band, the quintet redid "We Care a Lot" with new topical lyrics for Introduce Yourself, a blistering, conceptually refined album built around Jim Martin's well- integrated metal guitar, Mike Bordin's superb drumming and Chuck Mosley's coarse vocals and real-life lyrics.
San Francisco's Faith No More began on the indie scene's Marshall plan, playing a muscular mongrel rock mix containing funk, metal, hip-hop, hardcore and keyboards that punks could easily appreciate.

Problems with Mosley's wild antics, including his alleged walk-offs during the band's cover of Black Sabbath's War Pigs, eventually lead to his firing and had the band on the search for a replacement.
