On the next song, the Pink Dots invite their listeners into their garage for a song that harks back to the late 70s, and in the bass and 'drones' arrangements echo early Joy Division.
The Legendary Pink Dots invited their fans to send in artwork for use on the disc, and from the submissions they chose five or six pieces.

The Legendary Pink Dots - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Legendary Pink Dots are a UK rock band formed in London at the end of the late 1970s and who, although distinctly underground, have been musically influential over the years.
The band has, as its focal point, vocalist Edward Ka-Spel, who is, along with Phil Knight, one of the original remaining members of the band.
Their music is nothing if not original and it is difficult to categorise, but comparisons may reasonably be drawn at certain points with bands like Pink Floyd and Can.

Something I've noticed with bands who have a vast, expansive back catalogue of albums such as the Legendary Pink Dots is that generally the albums you pick up first in your collection are the ones that are the most endearing and enduring.
Comprised mostly of early Dots material that was released on their DIY cassettes, this ROIR collection is best left for the rabid Dots collector, rather than a curious onlooker wondering about this phenomenal band.
The Legendary Pink Dots, though long familar to me by name alone, are one of those bands that you just don't seem to hear.

 Dots and Loops
Dots and Loops is not Stereolab's best album in my opinion, simply because the songs on their own are not as compelling as ANY of their albums' songs are.
Comment: I wouldn't recommend Dots and Loops to anyone as an intro to Stereolab (new listeners should go with Mars Audiac Quintet or Emperor Tomato Ketchup), but this is indeed one great record for the more experienced Stereolab listener.
Since "Dots and Loops" was released inbetween all of them, you may look at it as Stereolab's first true attempt at creating something out-of-THEIR-norm.

Dots & Loops by Stereolab (lyrics & reviews)
Perhaps it's because Stereolab began mixing their music on computers at the time of this album, but Dots & Loops is an album of its own, one which for many perhaps defines the Stereolab sound.
Maybe Stereolab keeps putting out the same album nowadays, but Dots & Loops is more or less a departure from their early work, but a departure which when done right is something sort-of magical.
Dots and Loops is pure, grooving, spacey, pop goodness and a great introduction for newcomers.

It is no short feat of wonder that the Legendary Pink Dots have blossomed as musicians, gracing the music world and especially their followers with approximately twenty five uniquely individual full-length productions in twenty years, each more intriguing and innovative than the previous.
It would not do the LPD players and their cult-like status phenomena complete justice to compare this latest 10-track album to previous endeavors because the content, inspiration, structures, and soundscaped audio imagery is as different now as their debut was back in the early 80s.

Playing in more traditional “goth” modes, as in “Premonition 18” or (the oddly surf-y) “Dissonance,” the Legendary Pink Dots more than hold their own, weaving coldly beautiful soundscapes that alternately draw in and repel the listener, but the band really shines when they let their poppy side show.
