Aura, an album he had recorded in 1984, was released by Columbia in 1989 and brought him his fifth Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance by a Soloist (on a Jazz Recording).
Jazz Track, an album containing this music, earned him a 1960 Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Performance, Solo, or Small Group.
His performances and recordings became more haphazard, but in January 1951 he began a long series of recordings for the Prestige label that became his main recording outlet for the next several years.

But, to others who feel jazz includes almost all forms of improvisation the author's keen insite on sociological and twentieth century demographics play particularly well.
Out of the thousands of songs he penned (both music & lyrics), "Supper Time" is perhaps the one to truly call Berlin's best, with its heartwrenching tale of prejudice against African-Americans written at a time when such racism was still a fact of life.

Tony Vacca is "about as good as you can get locally," said Tyrone Allen, special events coordinator for the city.
Allen said Vacca gets the best youth performers from the Valley and also plays with an all-star band at the event.
And part of the beauty of the Chandler Jazz Festival this weekend is that the audience can be as spontaneous as the performers.

Blood on the Fields, a jazz oratorio about slavery by Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter and composer, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for music.
The piece, performed by three singers and 14 musicians, traces the journey of an African couple sold into slavery in the United States.
Marsalis, a native of New Orleans, studied classical and jazz trumpet at the Juilliard School in New York.
