Baritone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In barbershop music, the baritone part sings in a similar but somewhat lower range to the lead (singing the melody), but has a specific and specialised role in the formation of the four-part harmony that characterises the style.
Because of the nature of barbershop arrangements the baritone part is invariably the most challenging to learn and the hardest to improvise.
In music, a baritone (from Greek βαρυτονος 'deeply, heavily sounding') is a male voice of intermediate pitch, between bass and tenor.

Baritone saxophone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The baritone saxophone is used in classical music (particularly in the saxophone quartet, of which it is a member), but composers have rarely called for it in orchestral music, and it has a comparatively small solo repertoire.
Despite its low register, music for the baritone saxophone is written in treble clef.
Nigerian Afrobeat singer, musician, and bandleader Fela Kuti typically featured two baritone saxophone players in his band (most American jazz big bands feature only one).

Variations on the Baritone Horn and Euphonium
As mentioned in the previous section, "Variations on the Trombone", I started performing music in junior high school where I learned to play the trombone in a beginning band class.
They all looked similar but were made in graduated sizes and were given names corresponding to voices in a choir--soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass horn.
The trombone was the first fully chromatic brass instrument and it dates back to the 15th century.

"Another Voice: The Baritone Violin" - Darol Anger, Strings Magazine (1992)
This de facto Baritone Violin is wonderful for quiet musical situations where a mute would be appropriate, or where a loud violin sound is too exposed or distracting.
That solution is my own revival of the Baritone Violin, in this case a normal violin tuned an octave below the sandard GDAE.
For those high squeaky violinists who sometimes yearn for the infrared miasmas of musical outer thought, the newly resurrected baritone violin is a gas.

One of the most versatile Baritones of his generation, his repertoire is extensive, from Early Music and Oratorio to Opera, Song, and contemporary works written for him by British Composers.
Giles is a Lyric Baritone with a sizeable voice and a pleasingly warm, yet cleanly focused tone.
He has a comfortable, easy range from low G to high A, and excels in the coloratura styles of Bach, Handel and Rossini, in the high operatic baritone repertoire, and in 19th and 20th Century Song.

Baritone or Euphonium by David Werden
Roughly 80% of the music I played was marked "baritone," and yet about 1% of it was actually intended to be played on a true baritone.
I believe the breed was originally designed to let a single instrument play both euphonium and baritone music.
The inconsistency is that the double-bell version was able to approximate the sound of a baritone, while the single-bell instrument could only sound like a euphonium.
