 Encyclopedia: Both Sides
Both Sides is the title of Phil Collins' fifth studio album, released in the autumn of 1993.
Three singles from the album were released, the political anthems Both Sides Of The Story, We Wait And We Wonder (on which Collins plays bagpipes) and the ballad Everyday.
Widely regarded as his most personal album, Both Sides was notable for the fact that Collins made it entirely on his own, his usual loyal collaborators such as producer Hugh Padgham, guitarist Daryl Steurmer, bassist Leland Sklar and the Phoenix Horn Section all being notable absences.

BOTH SIDES is the album for every Phil Collins.
"Both Sides of the Story" a rousing cry for compassion and understand gets the album off to a great start, and "We Wait and We Wonder" is a catchy, uptempo track about terrorism--both of these tracks find Phil interestingly and effectively incorporating bagpipe sounds.
First song "Both Sides of the Story" got drums and sack pipes in the back, it's a slow song that last for almost 7 minutes and was also released on single.

Both Sides is an album with simple non real talent musical accompaniment and bland songs.
Before "Both Sides" were never my favourite Phil's album. For me it contained too much of "drum machine" ballads (like his "One more night") and too less energetic songs...but this cd, after more than two years of laying in my wardrobe, has growed much more interesting than many new stuff i have buyed recently.
OK.More than half of "Both sides" are slow-tempo ballads.Only four songs has got faster beat and more cheerfull lyrics. But few on these ballads are perhaps one ofthe most beautifull that Phil has wrote in his career.

 Taking Sides (2003): Reviews
Taking Sides has a padded-out, stagebound quality that is anything but lyrical.
The deep drawback of Taking Sides is that it forgets to be interested in music.
Taking Sides is really no less simplistic than "Sunshine," but its predecessor succeeded because of its length and scope.

A collection of B Sides (Sorry, G Sides) from a band with only one album to their credit should be an exercise in lowest-common-denominator barrel-scraping.
But Gorillaz' G Sides, as befits a band whose "live" performances take months of preparation, is an exercise in careful planning that actually manages to outstrip this near certainty.
I have listened to this album, and I want to review it.

 Pixies - Complete B Sides
Unusually for a B sides album, this one is accessible for people who didn't hear the band first time round but it would be fair to suggest that they listen to the original albums first.
One of a whole series of best of albums released by 4AD of late, this one comes with two videos in addition to 19 tracks and showcases songs that weren't singles, but rather were the flipsides.
Ordinarily such an exercise would be entirely without purpose, but The Pixies were no ordinary band and, as a consequence, this is no ordinary album of B sides.

On a side note, the Gorillaz are apparently very well known in Japan now, and I think that this album was released in Japan before it made its way to the Western World.
The design is all very nice on the case and it contains a small fourteen-page booklet that has other images of the band in it on each page, as well as listing all the tracks.
Actually from the outset, the album case looks pretty funky, as it has a Japanese cardboard sleeve with Japanese writing all over it.

It is always an indicator of a band that were truly influential--a posthumous collection of retrospectives and compilations that approaches the size of the catalogue they recorded while still functioning.

Joni Mitchell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Both Sides Now (2000) was an album composed mostly of covers of classic standards, performed with an orchestra.
The album contained reappraisals of "A Case of You" and the title track "Both Sides Now," two early hits transposed down to Mitchell's now-dusky, soulful alto range.
The songs on her first two solo albums Joni Mitchell (Song to a Seagull) (1968) and Clouds (1969) were archetypes of the nascent singer-songwriter movement of the time.

Although I miss the studio tracks that made up the final side of the original double LP release, the reissued version of Three Sides Live is a wonderful live collection that caught Genesis at their pop era peak.
Secondly, Three Sides Live benefits from a good selection of songs, including a couple of the best from Abacab, Duke and a medley of "In the Cage/Cinema Show/Slippermen" that gives both a nod to the past and a totally high caliber rendition of older material.
The entire bands sounds in prime form on the entirety of the disc, regardless of when the particular tracks were recorded (songs were culled from shows in 1977, 1981 and 1982, I believe).

The flip side of this single was as strong as any of the “A” sides so far, a rousing treatment of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s big hit “You Don’t Have To Be A Baby To Cry”, which had been recorded in the previous August.
The “B” side this time would be a song that had become a great favourite on his stage shows – a rousing rendition of Australia’s unofficial national anthem, the Banjo Patterson composition “Waltzing Matilda”.
The song formed Frank’s next “A” side and was released in September 1964.

The U.S. version, which determined the title, was made up of ten live cuts recorded on-stage in Germany in 1981, with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson in the group's lineup, doing the leaner, more pop-oriented repertory that constituted the group's sound by the early '80s, off of the albums Abacab and Duke.

Live experience had obviously welded the band together into a tighter unit, as the tentative, session musician vibe that plagued parts of The Pendulum is gone and there is some truly intense playing on this album.
