After the disease glaucoma left him blind as a child, Charles was sent to a school for the deaf and blind in Florida, where he developed a lifelong talent and passion for music.

Charles has found his tent can comfortably embrace and refer to roles for black sports figures, musical artists, examples of the artificial "white" mold for the beautiful leading lady, as well as the "darker" side of unrepressed strength and physical power of his young, strong men.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Red Cross of Central Maryland and the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Region unveiled a bust of the late Dr. Charles Richard Drew, a respected physician who made important contributions to blood research.
