Â Trevor Horn

The next year, Horn founded the Futurist-inspired record label ZTT with his wife Jill Sinclair and producer <bb>>Garyb>bb>> Langan.
While known primarily as a music producer, Trevor Horn began his life in the music industry as a bass player for acts such as Tina Charles and (briefly) <bb>>Garyb>bb>> Glitter.
Trevor also successfully applied his production skills to hip young acts such as ABC and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the African relief benefit single Do They Know It's Christmas?

With the exception of Trevor Horn, it was the first time fans got to see who were the Art Of Noise (for you trivia hounds, engineer <bb>>Garyb>bb>> Langan is the judge with the mask who gets a headache and remembers his tale of a turtle.) Weird video, beautiful song, it became a minor hit.
However, Dudley, Jeczalik, and Langan felt "they" were the musical brain behind the machine, and after tasting success they wanted more.
Horn and Morley had become friends, and they both talked about creating an independent record label which would be their outlet for some of the most original music England had to offer.

The members credited on their ZTT albums were a producer (Horn), a publicist (Morley), a sound engineer (<bb>>Garyb>bb>> Langan), an arranger/keyboardist (Anne Dudley), and a Fairlight synthesizer programmer (J.J. Jeczalik).
Their songs, in terms of both lyrics and music, were about losing one's organic self: in abandonment of will, in sex, and mostly in the processes and rhythms of machines.
Recording sessions with Grace Jones produced basically one song, "Slave to the Rhythm," which was nonetheless puffed up into an album of the same title.

They have hit the mark with the June 15 release of "The Seduction of Claude Debussy" (ZTT/Universal), the first Art of Noise studio album in 12 years.

The D.I. Go Pop album doesn't contain the song of the same name; it also doesn't really have anything that's recognizable as pop.
Disco Inferno's first three records — the single "Entertainment," the album Open Doors Closed Windows and the EP Science (all of which were later compiled, with an extra song, as In Debt) &; reveal a band with a very big collection of Joy Division records and a very large suitcase full of effects pedals.

Jill Sinclair was mainly responsible for the management and is said to be the one to blame for the tough and infamous contracts with the artists, which, according to Holly Jonson's auto-biography, gave ZTT about seventy to eighty percent of the money made with the records.
ZTT stands for Zang Tuum Tumb, a term found in a poem and in "The Art of Noises", a book of the Futurist-movement in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century.

The 16-song DAFT contains almost all of the groundbreaking 1983 EP INTO BATTLE, the wellspring for all future AoN projects, along with several stray singles and a good-sized chunk of 1984's WHO'S AFRAID OF THE ART OF NOISE.
