A LONG STRANGE TRIP TO 1979
When the time came for paring down the nearly 40 songs in contention for what would be a 28-song double-CD, it was an easy call for Flood, the famed producer (U2, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails) who shepherded Mellon Collie through its six-month studio birth with Alan Moulder and Corgan.
The song, an indictment of rock stardom that Corgan says is done at least partially tongue in cheek, is mirrored by a video that suggests a connection between the frantic activity in a concert mosh pit and the oppressive conditions in a labor camp.
The song is a sparse, atmospheric slice of dance pop, reminiscent of an early New Order or Cure track.

The lyrics are based on Psalm 40 from the Bible, the most plausible reasoning behind the title of the song.
"Beautiful Day" has been used by the CBS television network as the theme song for its 2002 Fall promotions, which was likely allowed as part of the deal in which CBS agreed to air U2's Slane Concert TV special.
That lyric is the title of a 1991 album by another Dublin band called Something Happens, a band which was often called "the next U2" in their late 80s, early 90s heyday.

 sharks and minnows press
Although the band’s sound might not be familiar within the context of its first two albums, think of any band from the past 30 or even 40 years that is considered a major influence in today’s indie music scene, and you are bound to hear it somewhere on this album.
Opening the album with "Sunday Driver" was a smart move, Sharks and Minnows; the song sounds like a Phil Spector produced girl group hit, albeit one without any female singers.
Sharks and Minnows -- the members of whom, bassist Chad Spangler, drummer Daniel Heisel and singer/guitarist/sole song-writer Christopher Simony, have been playing in bands in Atlanta since high school -- sound like what you'd expect from a trio where, live, two members' shirts are tucked in while the other's is tattered.

Zoo TV Tour - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The tour demonstrated immense confidence in the new album, typically opening with six to eight consecutive new songs before playing any old material, surrounding the songs with bewildering visual effects and a subversive take on the band's collective persona.
One of the other main highlights of the tour was Bono's array of on-stage personas, the most prominent of which was The Fly, who was also immortalised in the music video for the song "The Fly".
Zoo TV was a massive, elaborate, innovative, postmodern, multifaceted and multimedia, and very commercially successful world concert tour by the rock band U2 that took place in arenas and stadiums during 1992 and 1993.
